2. What are the steps to repair a sinkhole?
Step One:
Depending on the Engineer's recommendations, grouting is normally recommended. This is performed by inserting injection points around the perimeter
of the home. Injection points are installed by drilling down to the limestone utilizing steel casing.
Step Two:
Pressure grouting each injection point. Pressure grouting is performed by pumping grout at high pressure to fill
the voids or pores in the limestone, and then compacting the soil from the limestone to the surface.
3. What repairs can be done for serious foundation and wall settlement?
There are several reasons for severe settlement. They can include settlement from sinkhole activity, clay problems,
buried debris, organics, erosion, or even muck. Severe settlement can be repaired by underpinning the foundation.
Underpinning is performed by inserting steel casing down to the limestone, or other bearing strata. The pins that
are inserted pass through a steel bracket that is attached against the foundation. Once the steel casing is set,
we can lift the foundation to close cracks and re-level floors. Once the house is re-leveled, then the foundation
that is supported is being transferred to the steel pins.
